At the foot of the Pic du Canigou, Ch\u00e2teau Montana in Banyuls Dels Aspres is a wine estate that extends over the Aspres terroir. On its clay-limestone soils, the estate grows the traditional local grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache (black, white and grey), Carignan, Mourv\u00e8dre and Muscat, alongside other varieties such as Merlot and Cinsault to broaden its aromatic palette. Ch\u00e2teau Montana is committed to environmentally-friendly growing practices. The estate has already held High Environmental Value certification for a number of years, and is now organically farmed.
